Artist bio

Hot Stove is fronted by Gretta Wallace, owner of The Bon House, a DIY music venue in Atlanta, GA. For the last few years, she’s sat on the sidelines apart from the musicians who came through her venue. But through the community connections she’s made, she found her way into a production collective that brought the vision for Hot Stove to life.

Gretta, a prolific songwriter, brought over 30 demos to Ben Cato and Brad Pallone in January of 2024 after meeting through a Bon House show. Over the course of the year, the group would begin to flesh out the Hot Stove Universe and find their distinctive sound.

Influenced by multiple genres, the final result looks like a modern take on 2010s, guitar-heavy rock ballads from bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, and Brand New softened by vulnerable, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, confessional lyrics.

Hot Stove toys with the anti-hero persona lyrically, encouraging the listener to take a side in a story told by an unreliable narrator. Exploring themes around emotional projection, desire, and idolization, the album ‘Miserabilist’ brings the viewer into an unseen side of the music industry.
